This interaction facilitates prolonged excitatory synaptic signaling in vitro without directly activating the orthosteric glutamate site.

Indirect Effects on NMDA Receptor Currents

Experimental studies in cultured neurons suggest that IDRA–21 can indirectly influence NMDA

receptor–mediated currents, indicating a modulatory effect on excitatory synaptic signaling at

the cellular level.
